When world-renowned artists connect with their community live, everything behind the scenes has to come together perfectly. That’s exactly what we were able to demonstrate during a special production for TikTok LIVE: Together with the TikTok team, we produced an exclusive livestream featuring the world-famous pianist Lang Lang from Leipzig.
Portrait-Oriented Livestream for a Global Audience
The production was created specifically for TikTok LIVE in the 9:16 aspect ratio. In addition to a musical performance, the focus was on personal conversations, challenges, and interaction with the community. The goal was to create an authentic live production that fits seamlessly into the TikTok experience.
More Than Just a Livestream
In addition to the actual streaming production, we took on additional tasks at short notice to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
Well in advance, we arranged for a suitable Steinway grand piano for the production and coordinated the logistics between the hotel, the piano supplier, and the production team. At the same time, we conducted a last-minute location scouting trip to Leipzig to assess the technical requirements on-site and determine the optimal positioning of the control room, cameras, and lighting.
Perfect Sound for a World-Class Pianist
In a production featuring an artist like Lang Lang, sound plays a crucial role.
That is why we worked with a sound engineer who specializes in microphone placement and live recording of concert grand pianos. This allowed us to ensure that both the dynamics and the characteristic sound of the Steinway grand piano were faithfully reproduced in the livestream.
Reliable Internet Despite Challenging Conditions
“Live” means: There are no second chances.
During the technical preparations, it became apparent that the existing internet connection and mobile networks on site did not consistently provide the desired stability. To ensure maximum reliability, we quickly integrated a Starlink satellite connection into our network.
By combining our existing internet connection, 5G bonding, and Starlink, we were able to ensure a stable connection for the entire livestream—a key component for a seamless broadcast.

Production went smoothly, and the various teams worked together seamlessly. We are particularly pleased with the positive feedback from the client. The livestream attracted a large audience, generated a lot of engagement, and demonstrated once again the potential of modern live productions on platforms like TikTok.

Projects like these show that a successful livestream production involves much more than just cameras and streaming software. Careful preparation, quick on-site decision-making, and an experienced team that can respond to new challenges even on short notice are crucial.
