Six hours of live broadcasting. A historic venue with high security requirements. And: a first for us!
At the 16th Munich Rental Court Day in the Palace of Justice, we at Stream1 integrated AI-supported camera tracking with MiruSuite software into an ongoing production, with impressive results.
In this article, we show you how it worked!
The challenge: High-caliber event, limited resources
The Mietgerichtstag is a central specialist forum for the German legal community. The venue: the Palace of Justice in Munich. Great in impression, but limited in terms of space and personnel. Especially for streaming.
This is where the legal experts meet at the highest level, but the historical setting has its limits: places are scarce. Demand from all over Germany is huge, and every opportunity to attend must meet the highest security and data protection standards.
It was clear to us that we wanted to deliver the same image quality and dynamics as a fully staffed production with several camera operators, but more efficiently, more automatically and more flexibly. And of course: GDPR-compliant, fail-safe, at the highest level.
The solution: AI takes over camera tracking – we stay in control
Together with our partner MiruSuite, we developed a setup that breaks new ground. Three Canon CR-N700 PTZ cameras were used – two of which were used for automatic speaker tracking via MiruSuite software.
The division of tasks was clearly defined: MiruSuite provided the AI software for automatic camera tracking. Stream1 was responsible for the Canon CR-N700 cameras, control room, mixer, transmission and backup systems. The AI analyzed the movements, position and posture of the presenters in real time and positioned the cameras precisely. No joystick, no manual readjustment. Our director was able to concentrate on what really mattered: the live editing, the broadcast, the quality.

“One of the biggest advantages: Automated camera work takes the pressure off the team. We can achieve more with fewer people without compromising on quality,” says Michael Bamberger, livestream operator at Stream1.
The division of labor allowed both teams to focus on their core competencies while using the combination of Canon CR-N700 and PTZ cameras for flexible shooting perspectives with consistent image quality.
AutoCut: Automated live control room in test use
At the same time, we tested MiruSuite’s AutoCut function: The software recognizes applause, speaker changes or slide changes and automatically switches between long shot, speaker camera and presentation. The feature was already in productive use for backup purposes with surprisingly good results. The prospect: fully automated live production for suitable events.

Security and data protection: GDPR-compliant right from the start
The streaming infrastructure formed the technical foundation. Stream1 provided the stream in compliance with the GDPR, servers were located in Germany, the MiruSuite software was integrated directly into the Stream1 computers, and an access control system ensured that only authorized participants could receive the stream. Public access was technically impossible – exactly what legal events need.
The result: technical success through innovative teamwork
Six hours of uninterrupted live transmission without technical disruptions showed that the collaboration between Stream1 and MiruSuite works. The reach went beyond the presence capacities, remote participation was made possible. The German Bar Association (DAV) and the Munich Local Court confirmed the smooth operation.
Technological innovation brings real benefits
What do we take away from this project?
AI can replace routine, not creativity. We save on human resources and improve production quality at the same time. More flexible setups are a real game changer, especially for specialist events with a small technical team.
Legal events place special demands on technology. Data protection comes first, GDPR-compliant implementation with EU servers and controlled access is the basic requirement. Technical reliability over several hours is just as important.
The hybrid event format extends the reach without compromising on security. This offers new opportunities for specialist events that are traditionally only accessible to a limited number of participants on site.
The use of MiruSuite was an experiment with a clear objective and has proven its worth. Specialized partnerships lead to better results than isolated individual solutions.
Future outlook
We see great potential in the combination of human direction and AI-supported camera work. Especially for hybrid events where quality and efficiency are equally important.
The Munich Tenancy Court Day shows how legal events can be successfully held as hybrid events. The collaboration with MiruSuite proves that specialized partnerships deliver optimal results.
